I have just started working on modular forms through an introductory course and let led me to think how is research on them conducted. For example, what exactly do you research about modular forms, is there a method to generate or somewhat discover them? How do you conduct said research on these forms?

    $\begingroup$ There are soooo many different directions in what "research about modular forms" could mean, that this question is not clear. Also what answer would you expect? I expect this question will be closed soon. $\endgroup$

    $\begingroup$ I think the way to conduct research on modular forms (or any other mathematical topic) is to ask someone working on that topic to be your thesis supervisor. $\endgroup$
